The Myrtle Beach area will host 3 National qualifiers during the month of August 2014 for the World Golfers Amateur  Tour (WGAT) Carolinas Tour. The 3 tournaments are open to non-WGAT members and will allow players to advance the the WGAT Nationals September 27-28, 2044 at Mission Inn Resort and Golf Club at Howey in the Hills, Florida. From the Nationals, flight winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to represent Team USA against the world at the WGAT World Championship in Durban South Africa in November, 2014.

The WGAT has established amateur tours in 44 countries over the past 20 years. The WGAT USA in just 2 years is growing rapidly already establishing tours in several regions. The Carolinas Tour will be directed and promoted by and will host 12 to 24 tournaments during the 2014-2015 season that runs from October 2014 through August 2015. The Carolinas Tour National Qualifiers will be held August 9th, 16th, and 23rd at Cape Fear National in Wilmington, NC (Aug 9th), The Grande Dunes Resort in Myrtle Beach (Aud 16th), and The International World Tour (Aug 23).

At the Cape Fear National tournament 1 person from every 5 rounds played will advance to the Nationals. At Grande Dunes 1 person from every 10 rounds will advance, and at International World Tour, 1 out of every 20 rounds will advance. Those interested in participating can compare odds of advancing and cost to determine which tournament(s) they play. At  Cape Fear National on August 9th, the entry fee will be $215.00.  At Grande Dunes the entry fee will be $160.oo, and at International World Tour the entry will be $110.00. The varying entry fees reflect the odds of advancing, and also allow the opportunity for those who do not advance to take another shot for a lesser entry fee. For the entry golfers, will receive lunch, range balls, and a prize package to help offset the cost of entry.

Golfers with a 25 handicap or less will be eligible to play in the WGAT Carolinas Tour National qualifier and the following season. The schedule and courses to be played for the 2014-2015 season are expected to be announced by the Carolinas Tour shortly after September 1, 2014.  The tour will complete at least 12 tournaments in the coming season and possible as many as 24. Areas being considered include, Columbia, SC, Greenville, SC, Charleston, SC, Myrtle Beach, SC, Charlotte, NC,  Greeneville, NC, Greensboro, NC, Asheville, NC, Raleigh, NC, Pinehurst, NC  and Wilmington, NC.

TGD Radio host, George Honeycutt will take the lead as Tour Director for Honeycutt is an experienced amateur golf tour director and will also host a WGAT Carolinas Tour weekly radio broadcast from TGD Radio.
